Not all clinics treat Eating Disorders in the same way. Much will depend on the type of problem and whether they have anorexia nervosa, simple bulimia nervosa, anorexic bulimia nervosa, multi-impulsive bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, or compulsive overeating. Help for Bulimia differs to that provided for Anorexia treatment and far too often eating disorder treatment is grouped as one illness when in fact, as you no doubt know, the illnesses differ greatly in degree and severity and should be treated appropriately. Clearly, there is often an overlap of symptoms and many patients suffer from a mix of eating disorders; when one abates another rises to the fore.

The correct diagnosis would normally be undertaken by a specialist consultant or a GP with particular training in the field of eating disorder treatment.

ADMIT will undertake the referral to the eating disorder clinic free of charge along with a GP’s referral. We ease this process for you. We can also provide transport to the clinic as this can often be a problem for those with more severe symptoms. There is a small charge to cover the fuel and time of the female driver.
